Menu & Ordering

The basics, done right.

  • Categories + items + modifiers. Build your menu hierarchically. Customers customize their orders before checkout.
  • Multi-photo galleries per item. Carousel display. Customers swipe through photos before deciding.
  • Dietary & allergen tags. Vegan, gluten-free, nut allergy — all customizable, all visible to customers at a glance.
  • Master modifier groups (Growth+). Reusable "Size: S/M/L" or "Spice Level: 1-5" across your whole menu — define once, link many.
  • Category availability windows (Growth+). "Brunch only 9-2." "Late-night menu after 9pm." Visibility flips automatically.
  • Queue-based prep estimation. Customer picks a pickup time; the system extends it if the kitchen is busy.
  • Public order tracking via tracking code. No login required. Customer gets a URL they can return to.

Payments

Real money, real fast.

  • Card payments. Online payments land in your bank account, not ours. The card-processing company charges ~2.9% + 30¢ per transaction (paid to them, not UrbanEater); we add a small platform fee (0% on Pro).
  • Pay at Restaurant (PAR). Cash or card on pickup. Customer reserves the order online; pays in person.
  • Tips. Preset percentages or custom amount at checkout.
  • Multi-currency (CAD + USD). Your account, your country, your customers' currency.
  • Refund workflow. Issue refunds from the admin order list. The card-processing company handles the credit-card-side reversal.
  • Dispute / chargeback tracking. When a customer disputes with their bank, we surface it on the order so you know.
  • Payment-method discounts (Growth+). "5% off when you pay online." Pushes customers to lower-fee payment methods.

Promotions (Growth+)

Acquire customers and bring them back.

  • Promo / discount codes. Create codes with percent-off, dollar-off, or free-shipping rules. Time-bound, usage-bound, customer-bound.
  • First-order discount. Auto-applied to new customers to convert their first visit.
  • Pop-up announcements with scheduling. Pre-schedule promos (e.g. queue up Valentine's Day promo today, auto-show Feb 10, auto-expire Feb 15). TopBar / Center modal / Bottom banner positions.
  • Customer loyalty (roadmap). Punch-card style repeat-order discounts. Customer earns toward a free item every N orders.
  • Abandoned cart recovery email (roadmap). When a customer starts checkout but doesn't finish, we email a reminder. Industry average: rescues 5-10% of abandoned carts.

Your Brand

White-label by design.

  • Slug-based URL. urbaneater.com/your-restaurant-name — your customers see your name in the URL.
  • Custom domain (Pro). menu.acmedinner.com — fully white-labeled. We handle SSL, DNS hint, the works.
  • Logo + favicon + primary brand color. Upload your logo; pick your accent color; the whole portal themes around it.
  • Theme catalog (Growth+). Pick from preset themes (default, noir, etc) — no design skills needed.
  • Per-locale logos (Pro). Show different logos to different language customers (e.g. English script vs Chinese characters).

  • 5 customer-facing locales: English, French, Spanish, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese.
  • Per-org opted-in language management. Restaurant in Vancouver Chinatown can enable English + zh-Hans + zh-Hant. Restaurant in Montreal can enable English + French.
  • Translation Hub (Pro). Override platform translations per org. Use your local terminology, your menu vocabulary.
  • Localized email receipts. Customer's locale chosen at checkout flows into their confirmation + status emails.

Operations

  • Operating hours per day. Per-day open/close times. Customer order time picker respects them automatically.
  • Owner / Manager / Member roles. Granular permissions for your staff. MFA enforcement available on Growth+ for managers + members.
  • Kill switch. Stop accepting orders with one click. Useful for unexpected closures or kitchen emergencies.
  • Active-order caps + Pay-at-Restaurant SMS verification (Growth+). Defense against pranksters and no-shows on PAR orders. Phone OTP required before order is held.
  • Full analytics + CSV export (Growth+). Orders by hour, revenue by day, top items, peak windows. Export to spreadsheets for accounting.
